Loubert the Lovable Grinch Tiel | Poem

Here’s a story of Loubert, a bird not so merry,
Whose mood changes from Santa to Grinch in a flurry.
His beak strikes with determination, a sight to behold,
His hiss so mean, it could freeze hearts cold.

With feathers turned green in a grumpy display,
He scowls at the world in his own special way.
But even when Loubert is feeling quite sour,
He reminds us that moods are just like the hour.

They ticktock away, changing each moment,
From sunny to stormy, with different opponents.
Life’s too short to hold on to negative feelings,
Let it all out and don’t skimp on the squealing.

Heed this small warning, take care and beware,
Don’t ruffle the feathers of Loubert, don’t dare.
And try not judge others quickly by a cover so thin,
For even a Grinchy bird has warmth within.

This poem about Loubert was inspired by one of his favorite authors, Dr. Seuss. Although this adorable cockatiel may sometimes turn into a Grinchy tiel, he’s always quick to turn things around. Loubert understands that we all have our moments of moodiness and the grumps, but when we let ourselves feel them, experience those emotions, and work through the storm, we will sing in joy to our favorite wall again in no time.

In the video below, Loubert finds himself getting overwhelmed by all the holiday cheer. With a snap of his beak and a hiss of warning, he lets his human know that he’s had just about enough holiday cheer for one day. His funny mood swings and grumpy manner inspired his human to write a poem about his Grinchy ways, highlighting the importance of allowing someone their space and being kind enough to give each other the benefit of the doubt when they have a grumpy moment.
